November/December is often a time when we focus on being thankful and giving thanks to others. As John F. Kennedy once said, “We must find time to stop and thank the people who make a difference in our lives.” I want to start by thanking those who currently serve or have served our country in the armed forces. Our Veterans Day Flag Raising Ceremony , a Colina tradition, was one way we were able to pay tribute to these brave men and women who serve our country in order to help defend and secure our freedoms. We were honored to have so many Veterans in attendance and our children did an excellent job of honoring special Veterans in their lives. I want to thank all of you for your continued dedication to Colina. The time you give to volunteer in classrooms, support our fundraisers and attend community events dos not go unnoticed. Our PTO continues to work so hard to plan the many fun events to bring our community together and to support our school. Two recent examples are our Harvest Festival and the Read-a-Thon. I applaud each and every one of them for all they do for Colina. One way we can all thank our PTO is by continuing to volunteer at our school wide events. In the words of Helen Keller “Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much.” I want to thank our students for coming to school each day ready to learn and for filling my heart with joy. The smiles and hugs I receive each day mean so much to me. Finally, I want to thank my amazing staff for all they do to support our students. It is my honor and privilege to lead a school where student learning is at the forefront and “whatever it takes” is our motto.
