       Class Notes

August 8, 2008

Dear Room 9 Family,

       We have had a wonderful week together full of many firsts!  We’ve been to p.e., music, library and art.  We even attended our first school-wide assembly of the year on Thursday to meet all the other teachers in the school.

       We are busy learning about each other as well as classroom routines and rules.  Your children are doing a great job – we are already busy learning and having fun together.  As a mom, I know that many times when my kids come home from school and I ask what they’ve been up to, I get “nothing” as an answer.  Rest assured we’ve been very busy.  If you want to get your child talking, you might ask them about one of the following from this week:

       *Good Morning Handshakes – what three things do you have to do?

       *When do you have to be quiet, quick, and safe?

       *David Shannon and their own “No” books

       *Math Tools

       *The Game of Pop

       *Alphabet Cards

       I look forward to seeing you on Curriculum Night, August 20th, to share more about our learning and our classroom community.  If you have questions or concerns that need to be addressed in a more timely fashion, please don’t hesitate to contact me by phone or e-mail.

For now, a few quick notes:

       *Library books are due by every Thursday.

       *Regular homework will start after Curriculum Night.

     *Your child is welcome to bring a water bottle to class.  It should be labeled with his/her name.

       *The temperature in our room varies from time to time and can be difficult to control.  For comfort, your child may wish to bring a light jacket to leave in his/her cubby in the classroom.

 

       *Keep sending those notes about transportation changes!  They are very helpful.

 

       *A class directory is attached.  I’m still waiting on forms from a few families that might wish to be included and I will add to the directory as they come in.  Please look over the directory and let me know if I have made any errors in your information.  Send in corrections and I’ll update those as well.

 

     Thank you so much for all the classroom supplies!  The children and I really appreciate your support.  I think we are in good shape right now.  I will let you know of other possible needs on Curriculum Night.  Have a wonderful weekend!
